Foundation Phase
Grade R-3
Foundation Phase teachers help children develop a strong educational base and a love of learning. This includes teaching children to read and write and supporting them in developing their literacy & numeracy skills.
It focuses on providing children with a solid base in reading, writing, and mathematics, and aims to develop their problem-solving abilities, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
Intermediate Phase
Grade 4-6
The objective of the Intermediate Phase is to develop further students’ cognitive, emotional, and social competencies while preparing them for the next phase.
Senior Phase
Grade 7-9
Grade 7 is the first year of Senior Phase teaching in South Africa. During this phase, they will study a total of nine different subjects. In this phase, learners are engaged to grasp the following skills, to name a few:
- An ability to work with people.
- Good communications skills.
- Problem solving and taking initiative.
- Resilience, dedication, and perseverance.
- Flexibility.
- Leadership.
- Awesome creativity
- Discovering and finding their life goals and careers
As well as facilitate programs for LSEN Learners
The term “Special Educational Needs” is used to describe learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for children to learn than most children of the same age. Children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) are likely to need extra or different help from that given to
other children their age. The LSEN program is specifically geared toward helping learners who have been assessed by an Educational Psychologist, OT etc, who in turn has recommended that they be placed in an LSEN program where they can continue to learn at their own pace and at
a level they are comfortable with.
